The BJP government in Gujarat is planning to dissolve the assembly within a week or 10 days and announce early elections, according to Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in Surat.
Kejriwal, who arrived in Surat on Saturday evening for a rally in Bharuch with tribal leader and Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) MLA Chhotu Vasava and his MLA son Mahesh Vasava on Sunday, is expected to confirm an alliance with the party before the assembly polls.
Addressing questions about his tweet implying that the Gujarat government is scared of AAP and hence calling for early elections, Kejriwal told reporters at the airport: “We have learned from reliable sources that AAP has unsettled the BJP. Previously, the Congress and BJP had a friendly relationship but now they seem worried about AAP. It seems they want to rush into early elections to prevent AAP from gaining momentum. Sources indicate that the Assembly will be dissolved within a week or 10 days.”
This marks Kejriwal’s second visit to Gujarat in under a month and his first visit to South Gujarat and Vadodara.
